The event, held under the theme #PowerToAct, provided an opportunity for the youth to infuse political activism and social consciousness into their arts expressions.
The week-long event began with workshops where participants were taken through the paces of creating short dramatic stories. The event culminated in a showcase where an audience, including some of the youth’s parents watched the activists present their creations.
Speaking at the event, Rivonia Circle Director and Head of Programmes challenged the youth to get involved in solving community problems.
“We all have the responsibility to change the country we are living in and change the communities we are in. What is going to change our communities is not going to come from outside but from within the places where we are,” she said.
